The Berka band at the Hungarian house in Pusztina/Pustiana, January 31st 2009

All the children, as well as the adults, welcomed the Berka band on saturday evening at 5pm in the Hungarian house in Pusztina with great enthusiasm. Dressed in traditional folk costume, we felt honoured, as they came to play for us at their own expense and free of charge. We offered them in return, accomodation, food and our deepest appreciation.
At 6pm on the stage, the program was already on the way. First the traditionalist group and the children performed their act, and because they had come to Pusztina, we welcomed them with "The large mountain animal from Pusztina" song.
Magdo Timar traditionalist, Roxana Julia Tamas, who at the Szatmarnemet folk contest on 25th January, become second in the judges opinion and got the audiences prize. Besides this, she gained the Golden Peacock prize. Valika Pusztianu also performed, who, at the Folksong contest near Szeret, in the 1-4 class categories, gained first prize.
We could not do without stories either. Istan Matyas and Katalin Lajos traditionalists and Narcisz Laszlo 8th class student, did their bit to entertain the people.
After this, came the Berka band. Nobody could resist and all had to get involved in the dancing and singing. We didn't even notice that we have had a complete dance house on our hands! There was no rest, because everyone sang the old folk songs, the ones we had only heard of in our childhood, from our parents.
The children also got involved in the singing of a large variety of old folk songs.
The whole Hungarian house in Pusztina was filled with lovely singing and dancing.
We also want to thank Laci Szabo painter, who made us the delicious gulyas, that we all enjoyed!
All present, including the Berka band, ate really fast, so they could all get a second helping of the delicious meal.
We would like to thank the Berka band, for visiting us and for making this evening so memorable for all of us!
