Folk Song Competition along the River Homorod

The 11th Folk Song Competition along the River Homorod took place in Áron Gábor Cultural Centre in Vlahita (Szentegyházasfalva) on 7 March 2009. Csango Hungarian children from Moldavia were kindly invited by Mr Sándor Haáz, teacher, this year, too.
Ten students of the educational programme represented the forgotten Hungarians in Transylvania:

Paula and Johanna, the László twins from Buda,
Veronika Bukur and Teréz Bukur from the village of Ciucani (Csík),
Gyula Csorba, Madalina Csorba and Andrea Sándor from Lespezi (Lészped),
Florentina (Tina) Varga from Luizi Călugăra (Lujzikalagor),
Roxána Tamás and Andrea Bartos from Pustiana (Pusztina).

In the category for contestants coming from other regions, Roxi Tamás from Pustiana won the first prize, while the second prize went to Andrea Bartos, also from Pustiana. Both of them are students of Ms Ilona Nyisztor. After the announcement of the results, we got a record of the songs in mp3 format.
The children had already arrived at Hotel Múzeum on Friday where they were kindly welcomed with hot dinner. The competition took place on Saturday, followed by a ‘dance house’ in the evening, where they made acquaintances and had a good time. We returned to Moldavia only on Sunday while the children were talking about their experience during the whole journey.
We thank Mr Sándor Haáz and Ms Enikő Szabó teachers for having us, and the audience and the hussars in Vlahita for the encouragement.
We hope to meet again.
