The kindergarten class in Lábnyik/Vladnic

One of our wishes has come true in the 2008 - 2009 academic year because we’ve been able to form a separate kindergarten class. Even last year we had several kindergarten students at school and their activities also took place in the big classroom. However, we couldn’t make this classroom as comfortable for the little ones as we would have liked; we always had to be careful of the older children’s belongings; we didn’t have enough room for the toys and drawings, and the tables and chairs were too big. Thanks to helpful people in the Netherlands and Hungary, we were able to equip a kindergarten in the small loft room in autumn. We received small tables, chairs, plasticine and lots of toys.
The children’s surprise was great, but their happiness was even greater when they first entered the kindergarten classroom. They didn’t know what to be happier about and stared in wonder at everything. They love attending this well-equipped kindergarten which has a good atmosphere. It occurs many times that they arrive an hour earlier as arranged, then after the activities they don’t want to leave. We’re very proud of having fifteen children, aged 3 - 6 years, every day. We know that their number could be increased, but it’s very difficult to attract children who live far away. Several of them would like to come, but even one kilometre is a huge distance for kindergarten students, and we can’t solve this problem.
By all means, the fifteen children who attend our kindergarten class on a regular basis have already known a dozen of poems, nursery rhymes and songs in Hungarian. They understand and speak more and more in Hungarian and are very open to new information. We’re especially happy because the earlier they start learning Hungarian, the more they can identify themselves with this language.
