“It is poem that must be recited…”
6th recitation contest for readers of poetries in Frumósza-Frumoasa
Often, our busy life hardly allows us a breathing space, but also causes our difficulties to be forgotten through countless events raising our spirits.
Like the recitation contest held this past weekend, which has already become customary to be organised in Frumósza every year since 2004. It is true that its date has been rescheduled from winter to spring, but scarcely any other fault to be found.
As usual, we arrived at Frumósza towards evening on Friday, although this time prior to arriving we also had the opportunity to drop in Pusztina in order to take delight in the works created and exhibited during the craftsmen’s week.
After the thrill of arriving, the children retired to their lodgings accompanied by their little hosts/hostesses. Their faces were flushed with excitement in the morning as the contest was approaching, which was held this year at the same venue: the public school of Frumósza. After the excitements of lot-drawings, the contest had begun in both classrooms. Each poem more beautiful, longer, amusing than the other entwined us like blossom creepers, and using one dialect more spicy than the other perhaps even more emphasized the message of each poem. Some children were hot under the collar, while some enjoyed being in the “limelight”.
It was lovely. Elevating. Heart-breaking. Smile-provoking.
Although the final outcome and the decision of the jury were also important, I still feel that everybody produced his best performance and is capable of improving himself from year to year.
After each contest, I am filled with gratefulness for all tangible and intangible assistance giving us such experiences. It is my most ardent secret wish that we will be able to continue to do so for many years to come.
The warm welcome we are given at all times reinforces our sentiment that if it’s about a recitation contest, it will be at Frumósza!
