Teachers’ Meeting in Csíkszereda/Miercurea Ciuc
Our first teachers’ meeting this year was held in Csíkszereda. Together with our colleagues teaching in villages and those doing office works, we set off and spent the weekend, 23-25 January, in Csíkszereda in the new “residence” (dormitory) of Csángó children, who continue their studies in the Hungarian language. In addition to holding the teachers’ meeting, one of our main goals was to examine the life of the residence, and thus we slept in the rooms of the dormitory and ate meals together with the children.
After arrival on Friday, we all participated in the programme of Ferenc Sebő, who arrived with his band at Csíkszereda for the Day of Hungarian Culture, and recited a compilation of the prose of Ervin Lázár, and the poems of Attila József and Dániel Berzsenyi. We are indeed lacking similar events in Moldavia, and so it was a good feeling for all of us to be able to enjoy this lovely programme.
On Saturday, we discussed administrative and organizational matters.
Each venue had the opportunity during the afternoon program to have a chat individually with the colleagues of the Association working in Bákó (Bačau) for the purpose of sharing our thoughts collectively. We have been delighted to have had as our guests Krisztina Tornay, Sister Petra and András Guba, supervisors - also partaking in our methodological summer camp - who attended our conversations and hosted our morning programme on Sunday.
To finish the teachers’ meeting, we together with the children living in the residence attended a mass celebrated by András Guba. The holy mass addressed both the children and the teachers that are preparing them for and assisting them in taking the opportunity to advance their studies. In his preaching, András Guba reminded all of us that our Hungarian language is the link that connects us and the Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin. Wherever we may go in the world, we are responsible for cultivating and preserving the Hungarian language.
We would like to thank the students and the teachers of the residence of Csíkszereda for having accepted us on this weekend!
